Blue Ridge Wildflowers blog is a place where I get to post my images of wildflowers growing the the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwest Virginia. As I learn these wonderful flowers, I hope to pass on what I learn as well as brightening your day with some nice images. Please feel free to comment and pass the word about this blog.

6/25/08 - Along the roads to Smith Mountain Lake
It was another nice day in Roanoke, and though not as cool as it has been in the past week, it was not too hot either. So, I took the opportunity to head to Smith Mountain Lake for the day. The wildflowers below are what I found either along the roadsides, or at Smith Mountain Lake.
The flowers above, as best I can tell, are Coreopsis ariculata, also known as Nana Coreopsis.
The flowers above are called Everlasting Pea, or Lathyrus latifolius. These grow in large clumps of vines.
The flowers above are the relatively easy to find Black-eyed Susan, or Rudbeckia hirta.
This flower is known as a Lance-leaved Coreopsis, Coreopsis lanceolata.
I have been a Professional Photographer for quite some time. Through the years, I have photographed the Roanoke area, and was always looking for a place for people to see my work. Rather than dwelling on my past work, with this blog, I will attempt to document my work as I shoot it. Should be fun.
